The Walter F. George Lake was named after the U.S. Senator who represented Georgia in the 1940's and 50's before it came to known as Lake Eufaula.
Lake Eufaula was
completed in 1963, to provide electric power and aid in navigation on the Chattahoochee River and is 48,000 acre lake is approximately 85 miles in length. Lake Eufaula runs along the border of Alabama and Georgia.
Lake Eufaula is a 45,181-acre reservoir and is also known as the Walter F. George Reservoir. Lake Eufaula is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impoundment on the Chattahoochee River.
